Abdulswamad Ali is trailing in the Nyali parliamentary race as Said Abdalla and businessman Nelson Alfayo emerge as the front-runners in the latest poll, signalling a reshaped contest ahead of the next election.
Recent survey figures suggest Alfayo has built a commanding lead, while Abdalla has also outperformed Abdulswamad in voter preference.
According to one recent poll, Nelson Alfayo leads the pack with 68 per cent, followed by Said Abdalla at 21 per cent and Abdulswamad Ali at just 7 per cent.
The numbers point to a widening gap in the race for the Nyali seat, where voter sentiment appears to be shifting in favour of new challengers.
Another earlier survey also placed Alfayo ahead, reinforcing the view that he has become the most dominant figure in the contest.
The findings may complicate Abdulswamad’s efforts to reclaim political ground in the constituency. While his name remains in the race, the latest figures suggest he is struggling to match the momentum generated by both Abdalla and Alfayo.
For Abdalla, the poll indicates a stronger showing that could position him as a serious contender if he maintains the current pace.

Political observers say the outcome reflects a competitive race shaped by changing alliances, voter fatigue, and the appeal of fresh faces.
Nyali has long been one of Mombasa’s closely watched constituencies, and the latest numbers indicate that residents may be open to new leadership options.
The results also show that the battle is not simply between established political names, but increasingly about who can connect best with voters on the ground.
Alfayo’s rise
Nelson Alfayo’s rise in particular has drawn attention, with the businessman now seen as the candidate to beat in the constituency. His lead suggests that his campaign message is resonating with a broad section of the electorate.
Said Abdalla’s improved standing also points to a race that could still tighten as campaigns intensify.
As the contest continues, the poll results are likely to influence campaign strategy, alliances and messaging in the run-up to the vote.
For now, however, the numbers place Abdulswamad Ali at the back of the pack, while Said Abdalla and Nelson Alfayo dominate the Nyali race.
