Diana Daisy-Gau’s journey from a local comedian to a renowned travel YouTuber is a story of resilience, talent, and transformation. Born Diana Muthoni Maina in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, in 1997, she faced early hardships, losing both parents by the age of five and being raised by relatives under difficult circumstances. Despite these challenges, Diana nurtured a passion for comedy and performance from a young age, actively participating in her high school drama club and leading the Christian Union while making people laugh.
“Growing up without parents was difficult, and there were times when I felt lost and alone.
Despite the challenges, I am grateful for the love and support of my extended family. My uncles and aunts took me in and raised me in their homes. It was not always easy, as I had to adjust to different environments and lifestyles, but they provided me with the love and guidance I needed to keep going.” Diana revealed on her Instagram account.
Her professional career began modestly, working as a cashier at Tusky’s Supermarket for a meager salary, a job she quit to pursue her dreams in comedy. Diana’s breakthrough came when she attended a live recording of the Churchill Show, Kenya’s premier comedy platform, which inspired her to try stand-up comedy professionally.
Although initial auditions at Carnivore were challenging, she persevered by creating and sharing comedic skits online. Her unique style and relatable content quickly gained traction, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many turned to online entertainment.

Diana Daisy, popularly known as Gau, became one of Kenya’s top content creators, collaborating with prominent comedians like Cartoon Comedian and Naomi Kuria. Her comedy often highlights societal quirks and everyday experiences, delivered with wit and originality. Beyond comedy, she also ventured into parodies of popular songs and worked as a Master of Ceremonies.
In recent years, Diana has expanded her creative horizons by embracing travel content on her YouTube channel, which now boasts over 166,000 subscribers. Transitioning from local comedy to global travel vlogging, she has been globe-trotting, exploring diverse cultures and sharing her experiences with a growing international audience.
Her travel videos focus not only on destinations but also on cultural insights, such as unique local customs and traditions, making her content both entertaining and educational. She has visited countries like Uganda, Rwanda, and Zambia, documenting her adventures and cultural encounters.
Diana’s shift from comedy to travel vlogging was not easy, as she had to adapt to a broader audience beyond Kenya. However, her authenticity and passion for learning and inspiring others have helped her build a loyal following. She uses her platform to celebrate different cultures and encourage her viewers to explore the world.
